2008 Accomplishments

 

Ø  Continued the cooperative venture of Trout unlimited, property owners, local businesses , river users and The Pine River Association, to pay for 2 cleanings of the sand trap.

Ø  Provided 600 trees that were planted to stabilize banks of the Pine River

Ø  Worked with the DNR to improve access and develop a plan for improved fish structure at the 230th access site.

Ø  Are establishing a trail and demonstration site where folks can see effective practices any time they want AND have people to explain it to them.

Ø  Developing a brochure to explain the basics of stream improvement and resources available for steam improvement.

Ø  Finished a “mountain of paperwork” so we can accept UNLIMITED donations and provide tax UNLIMITED deductions (We were limited to $5000 a year).

Ø  Began efforts to establish an endowment fund, where your contributions will last FOREVER in contributing to river care.

Ø  Regularly visited most DNR access sites with a team of Pine River Association members, cleaned sites and reported their status to DNR personnel..

Ø  Are working with DNR folks on all the above, and also hope to improve care of DNR access sites.

Ø  Upgraded and improved our FREE website  www.friendsofthepine.org

Ø  Involved many new people in helping our wonderful river become even better!
