We hope you had another wonderful year enjoying our sensational Pine River, we sure did! We also had a great year on projects and used your money well. (see below) We hope you can help us do an even better job next year. Thanks!
Larry Schaftenaar Tom Kromer Past President President
2008 Accomplishments Ø Continued the cooperative venture of Trout unlimited, property owners, local businesses , river users and The Pine River Association, to pay for 2 cleanings of the sand trap. Ø Provided 600 trees that were planted to stabilize banks of the Pine River Ø Worked with the DNR to improve access and develop a plan for improved fish structure at the 230th access site. Ø Are establishing a trail and demonstration site where folks can see effective practices any time they want AND have people to explain it to them. Ø Developing a brochure to explain the basics of stream improvement and resources available for steam improvement. Ø Finished a “mountain of paperwork” so we can accept UNLIMITED donations and provide tax UNLIMITED deductions (We were limited to $5000 a year). Ø Began efforts to establish an endowment fund, where your contributions will last FOREVER in contributing to river care. Ø Regularly visited most DNR access sites with a team of Pine River Association members, cleaned sites and reported their status to DNR personnel.. Ø Are working with DNR folks on all the above, and also hope to improve care of DNR access sites. Ø Upgraded and improved our FREE website www.friendsofthepine.org Ø Involved many new people in helping our wonderful river become even better!
